Helping Haiti, One Family at a Time!

As we continue our journey to “Help Haiti, one family at a time”, our mission remains to empower the lives of people in Haiti by keeping families together through providing support for childhood education and health.

As you know, the news from Haiti continues to be grim – violence is rampant and it’s difficult to know at any given time exactly what is happening. We are fortunate that Jeremie is on the western coast of Haiti, far away in distance and separated by mountains from the capital of Port au Prince. The road from Port au Prince to Jeremie is not always open, and the airports can be closed as well.

Our students were able to attend school September through December. School was closed for several weeks, in January and February due to the danger. We are happy to report that our students returned to school March 11th. Please pray that the situation stays stable enough for school to continue.

Our HH4HC staff are all Haitians living in the Jeremie area. We keep in touch with the staff -Rolin, Serge, JoAne, Migo and Zacarie – by email and on What’s App with text messages and phone calls. They are safe and taking the appropriate precautions. They care about our students and their families, and they are dedicated to our organization, despite the dire circumstances. We owe them a great deal of gratitude. Whenever we tell the staff we are praying for them, they tell us they pray for us, too.

Support for our students and their families in Jeremie has never been more critical, and we are grateful for your commitment to helping them. We just received this photo of 2 of our students, Williana and Leila, who were happy to come to tutoring and happy that school is back in session. (Tutoring and the after school meals are funded by donations outside of sponsorship, so every donation helps.)

Another bright spot is one of our post graduate students, Jean Robert Jean Baptiste who is attending the University De La Renaissance D'Haiti studying Computer Science. Of course, having a computer is essential to his studies, and through the generosity of our sponsors and donors, HH4HC was able to provide a laptop to Jean Robert, and we received this note from him:

“I want to thank every single one of you that have contributed to buying this laptop for me. I am wordless to express the feeling of gratitude that I have towards your involvement, dedication, understanding and your tremendous commitment day to day to improve the quality of our lives. In final words, may God keep blessing and taking good care of you and your family. Thank you once more HH4HC!”
