We are a non-denominational 501c3 organization, working in Jeremie, Haiti and the surrounding mountain areas. Jeremie is located on the west coast of Haiti. Our organization identifies families in need through relationships with churches, and those children are submitted for sponsorship.

As sponsors come forward, the child is enrolled in one of our partner parochial schools. School tuition, books, uniform, tutoring, nutritional supplements and healthcare are provided to each child. The sponsorship also includes a monthly stipend for the family to help with the high cost of food. Our sponsorships start with pre-school age children and extend through post graduate students studying in local colleges, universities, and trade schools.

Our History

The organization was established in 2012 by our founder, Jane Carney. Jane had made many visits to Haiti for medical missions in her profession as a pharmacist. In her passion to help the people of Haiti, she acknowledged that many children were economic orphans, because their parents did not have the resources to take care of them. When she asked Haitians how to help them, the overwhelming response was to help keep families together, through support for education and health care. Haitian Homes For Haitian Children was started by soliciting sponsors to provide monetary support for better education through Christian schools and health care. In the past 11 years, it has grown from 7 children to 121 children ranging from preschool to college age.

About Our Founder

Jane Carney is the founder of Haitian Homes For Haitian Children, and her efforts have been the cornerstone of the organization. She served as Executive Director until 2020 and currently serves as a Board Member. Through her many trips to Haiti, she has firsthand knowledge of the Haitian people, and her love for Haiti is unsurpassed. We are forever grateful for Jane’s vision of how to help families in Haiti, her connections with the partnerships both in Jeremie and in the U.S., and her countless personal updates to sponsors of information about the students.

Support Our Work

Haitian Homes For Haitian Children Statement of Faith

We are guided by our Christian faith to follow Jesus' commandment in Matthew 22: 37-39: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

We are motivated by Christ’s love to assist families of Jeremie, Haiti through acts of kindness, compassion and provision for the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of those we serve through our organization.

We rely on prayer and seek God’s guidance, strive to be diligent stewards of the funds and support provided by our donors and partners, and we are dedicated to bringing hope and positive lasting change to the families and the communities of Jeremie.
